Light and Shadows

If I look into the light, the shadows fall behind me.

As I kid, I never thought it a remarkable thing.

It simply seemed normal, like singers that sing.

The light, it will shine; the sun, it will climb;

And all that gives life is unburdened by strife.

As I grew up, I forgot what I knew.

I searched darkness out and let evil brew.

The darkness will seep; the shadows will creep;

And all in the dark will leave its death mark.

Now I am old, and I look to the light.

I turn from the shadows, I turn from the night.

The darkness, it lies; the dawn, it will rise;

And all that is love flutters down like a dove.

If I look into the light, the shadows fall behind me.
